The Centre for Childhood Nutrition Research (CCNR) is a passionate team of experts dedicated to ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive through proper nutrition. They transform research into actionable solutions by addressing the root causes of food insecurity, paving the way for children to have healthier, brighter futures.

To advance this mission, CCNR needs a recognisable Logo & Branding in order to foster visibility, trust, and funding— driving outreach, collaboration opportunities, and advocacy in child-centred nutrition.

The resolved mark is simple in form, yet rich in narrative. The icon invites diverse interpretations, each resonating with the organisation’s identity. At its core, the mark depicts an eaten leaf. The bite mark transforms into the silhouette of a child. This dual symbolism connects the concepts of eating nutritious foods, like fruits and veggies, with the image of a child gazing upward in ambition. The merging of the child and eaten leaf represents health, nourishment, growth and aspiration.

Furthermore, the leaf's venation not only enhances the form’s legibility but also tells a deeper story. The three segments representing the founding organisations, uniting with the child to form a unified shape that symbolises community and collaboration.

The primary brand typeface, Causten Rounded is a contemporary sans-serif. Its bold, rounded, characteristics align with those of the icon. This typeface is appropriate for principal applications while maintaining approachability.

The secondary typeface, Eliptik, adds playful and expressive versatility that gives the brand a friendly and captivating demeanour. This typeface not only works great with the primary, but also echoes the natural forms of vines which are a recurring branding element.

A bright, lively green anchors the primary palette, capturing CCNR’s essence. Paired with white and soft black this creates a clean, professional look that’s well-suited for a research centre. A complementary palette of vibrant colours adds dynamism and enhances the brand’s approachability to children. Supporting elements including vine motifs and a foods pattern maintain and enrich the brand’s visual language.

Through careful design consideration the new logo and branding work in cohesion to encapsulate CCNR’s identity and amplify their goals in a timeless and effective fashion.
